Carolyn L Dorazio joined the University of Pittsburgh in April 2025, bringing over three decades of distinguished experience in law, finance, and higher education.  Prior to her appointment, she served as Founder and Managing Partner of Dorazio Law Group, P.C., where she led a thriving private practice focused on business law, estates & wills, commercial transactions including corporate finance endeavors, and real estate matters.

Carolyn began her legal career after earning her Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University of the Holy Spirit School of Law and an MBA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Her professional journey includes senior roles in both private practice and Fortune 100 companies, including Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP, BNY Mellon and PNC Bank, where she specialized in corporate and estate tax issues, investment banking, securities compliance, and tax-efficient financing.  Her experience has included negotiating, structuring and documenting non-public financial transactions including debt and warrant combinations.  She has served as General Counsel for venture-capital backed firms, taught law and wealth management courses at Penn State Dickinson School of Law and Chatham College, and authored publications for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and National Business Institute on trusts, estate planning, real estate sales, development and business transactions.

Carolyn is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the United States Tax Court.  In her current role, she draws on her deep expertise in corporate law and investments, regulatory compliance and institutional finance to support the University of Pittsburgh’s legal operations and strategic initiatives.  She has received the prestigious AEP (Accredited Estate Planner) certification for those working with estate and trust matters throughout the United States.
